Freeth was pleased to hear that Middleton Todd was out of hospital. In the meantime, he was enjoying taking Middleton Todd's classes at the City and Guilds. He trusted they were learning something - he knew he was. Freeth had put up that year as a candidate for the RP. He hoped to get in, but expected that there were some who would not support him. He had sent in a portrait of the Minister of Health,
Enoch Powell: "rather hard but a good likeness and alive, I hope." Freeth painted most of the time now: it was impossible to live by prints. He loved it, though it was exasperating too - and depressing.
