      <title>Lullingstone Castle, Kent - Friends Events - 19 Jun 2013</title>
      <description><![CDATA[<p>Built in 1497 for John Peche as a Tudor mansion, Lullingstone has remained in the same family for over 600 years. It was altered and refurbished during the reign of Queen Anne and what we see today is a charming mix of architectural styles. Our tour includes the Grand Staircase, sumptuous State Drawing Room, family portraits and oak panelling.       <description><![CDATA[<p>Firle has been the home of the Gage family for over 500 years. This eighteenth-century mansion, concealing parts of a medieval building, contains a superb collection of furniture, porcelain and Rococo plasterwork. We explore the house and its collection, which includes works by Van Dyke, Gainsborough, Reynolds and Teniers.       <title>The Rose Theatre - Friends Events - 28 Jun 2013</title>
      <description><![CDATA[<p>Originally built in 1587, the Rose Theatre was the first purpose-built playhouse to ever stage a production of Shakespeare’s plays. Its success soon encouraged other theatres, and these rivals swiftly overtook the Rose, which was abandoned by 1606. In 1989, archaeologists uncovered parts of the theatre and a subsequent campaign saved the site, with a new performance space opening in 2007.       <title>Burghley House, Lincs - Friends Events - 4 Sep 2013</title>
      <description><![CDATA[<p>One of the greatest of Britain’s non-royal palaces, Burghley was built for Queen Elizabeth I’s Lord High Treasurer Lord Burghley in 1555. The interiors include a Great Hall with a hammerbeam roof and vaulted Old Kitchen. Later Earls of Exeter have endowed the building with magnificent painting collections, and an opulent series of state rooms, including the famous Heaven Room painted by Verrio.
