The Royal Academy is a charity that receives no annual government funding. Established in 1768 by an act of George III, the Academy is unique in being run by artists. From education projects for students from 8 to 80, including the only 3 year post-graduate fine arts course in the UK, to an international exhibition programme drawing works from all over the globe, as well as the Academy’s own collection, the Academy’s aim is to promote excellence in the visual arts.
