In the Reynolds Room, a John Madejski Fine Room
From the middle of the nineteenth century, Paris was the city where artistic reputations were made. MaryAnne Stevens, the RA’s Director of Academic Affairs, explores how the training provided in prestigious ateliers, together with the Paris Salon, lured not only the young Sargent, but a polyglot community of aspiring artists, including the future members of the New English Art Club and the Glasgow Boys.
