Family Studio: Imagination Animation
(Sunday 16 June)
Inspired by the wide variety of artworks in the Summer Exhibition, animate and create your own story, using different techniques ranging from flipbooks to iPads.

Summer Exhibition Family Workshops
Wednesdays and Fridays: 24, 26, 31 July, 2, 14, 16 August
Take part in a family workshop in the Summer Exhibition, comprising an introductory tour and practical hands-on session.

Summer Exhibition Family Gallery Tours (Sundays in July)
45–minute introductory tours around the Summer Exhibition galleries.
2.30pm; free with an exhibition ticket
Designed to bring out the artist in every child, these free activity trays for young visitors and their families are available daily in the galleries. Each tray contains all the equipment you need to create works of art inspired by the Summer Exhibition. The trays also contain free sketchbooks and pencils to take home.
Art Detectives are fun exhibition trails for younger visitors to enjoy. Available free from the RA Learning desk or to download from our website,
each guide includes creative activities and encourages families to explore exhibitions together.

Facilities for babies and young children
There is a baby changing facility inside the accessible toilet, on the right-hand side of the staircase in the Front Hall. High chairs are available in the restaurant and café. For breast-feeding, the most comfortable area may be leather seats by the entrance to the restaurant. Pushchairs and buggies are allowed in the galleries and can be stored in the cloakroom.
Eating and drinking
The Restaurant at The Royal Academy
is open daily from 10am until 6pm, with dinner served on Fridays and Saturdays until 11pm. Book your table by calling 020 7300 5608. Alternatively, situated on the ground floor next to the lift, and serving a range of freshly prepared sandwiches, cakes and pastries, the RA Café is an ideal place to visit for a light snack and drink. Open 10am–5.30pm daily (7.30pm Friday).
