Name: Jodie Peters

School: Lytchett Minster School

Town: Poole

County: Dorset

Year: Year 12

Inspiration: I like sewing, surfing and reading rather a lot and wish to pursue a career in a textile and teaching related field in the future. I appreciate a variety of types of art; I have a keen interest in photography and love the weird and wonderful, as well as the classically famous. I love working with materials and fabrics, as I feel there is a lot that can be done with them. I make some of my own clothes, like skirts, dresses and underwear in my spare time. As far as art goes, I love Kruger, Warhol, Judy Chicago, Nikolaj Recke and Holly levell.

Title: (hands) Actions speak louder than words

Description: This piece is unfinished but it shows the experimental process I went through to find out what my final piece will include. I explored the topic of feminist art through the ‘posters and signs’ question and am currently developing my piece that challenges the ‘Glass Ceiling’ concept. My final piece shows the unity in which men and women work doing the same jobs, and yet the pay gap is where the similarity ends. It also shows that there’s a lot to be done to achieve equality.
