Waddesdon Manor, Buckinghamshire

9 Jul 2008
Sold Out

This magnificent French Renaissance-style château was built in the 19th century for Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild to display his outstanding collection of art treasures and to entertain the fashionable world. We begin our visit on the ground floor concentrating on the collection of works by Gainsborough, Reynolds, and Dutch and Flemish Masters. We also tour the Bachelors' Wing, which was used by Baron Ferdinand’s male friends when visiting without their wives. The Rothschild name is synonymous with wine-making and we visit the wine cellars and taste two Rothschild wines. Waddesdon also has one of the finest Victorian gardens in Britain and our visit includes a guided tour of the Manor garden.
