The Academicians' Room Members: RA Schools Curate
Thursday 1 October - Wednesday 30 September 2015
The Academicians' Room, The Keeper’s House, Royal Academy of Arts
Free, no booking required. The Academicians' Room members only.
Please join us for a special evening of performance art and music curated by some of our current students.
As Britain’s first art school, the RA Schools has trained some of the UK’s finest artists from William Blake to 2013 Turner Prize-nominee Lynette Yiadom-Boakye.
With performances by:
Plastic Flowers
Listen on SoundCloud
Plastic Flowers are Greek Pop duo Georgios Samaras and Angelos Paschalidis. They are currently based in London and perform live with their new drummer-collaborator, Giannis Rizopoulos.
The band began as a home studio project in 2011 and after a year of solo recordings, Angelos joined Plastic Flowers. Together they started experimenting with tape machines and various vintage equipment to produce a form of lo-fi but dreamy sound, inspired by Dream Pop acts of the '90s and '00s such as Slowdive, Red House Painters and Beach House.
Vera Modena
The alter-ego of artist Gery Georgieva. Backed by the vulgar, unfiltered rhythms of her collaborator, Patchfinder, Modena performs corrupt kuchek beats and the siren call of Rhodope-style choral chants
Quilla Constance
Quilla Constance, 'QC', is the creation of artist Jennifer Allen. QC over-identifies with an 'exotic' militant punk persona and formulates interventions across a multi-disciplinary practice of paintings, lectures, photographs, live performances and music videos
Free, no booking required. The Academicians' Room members only.
